Wow Week 5 already! I know many of you are heading into dealing with the second wave of covid or nasty winter bugs, along with a very violent gastro bug which seems to be hitting a lot of schools and ECE centres. Staffing continues to be tricky – go easy on yourselves and make sure you take care of you. Quite topical over the past few weeks is the $12k Principal Wellbeing payment which has gone out to Principals who have dealt with Covid within the first three years of their principalships – it leaves the question – what about everyone else? I have spoken to a few of you who have some pretty strong feelings and rightly so!
Take care!

Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou.
It is hard to believe that we are in Week 5 of the term already! I hope that your term is going well and that you are not having too many disruptions due to Covid-19. For those of our colleagues who have had large numbers of staff absent this term, we hope you find some reprieve as the term progresses.
It has been a busy term for members of the WPA executive who have been out and about talking with some of our principal colleagues in Tokoroa, Cambridge, Huntly, and Morrinsville recently. Thank you to those of our colleagues who were able to come along to one of our Friday 'get-togethers' with the executive and we hope you had an enjoyable time.
We have a busy remainder of the term planned, with the first WPA Connections Day coming up on Thursday, 16th June at Claudelands Event Centre. Shay Wright will be presenting and inspiring us on the day. The 2022 AGM of the WPA will be held at our Connections Day.
This Friday the 3rd of June, the WPA is hosting the final 'Schools Challenge' evening at the Cambridge Harness Raceway. This has been a very popular annual event on the WPA calendar and we will be sorry to see this event end. We would like to extend a big thank you to John Coulam who has been instrumental in supporting the WPA with this event over many years. We look forward to seeing those schools that have registered at the Cambridge Raceway on Friday.
Finally, we are holding our WPA Study Tour from the 9th-12th of August this year. We are currently finalising the itinerary for the Study Tour and we hope to share the information with you online and at the Connections Day in June.
Kia pai o koutou wiki.

Lesley
