Tēnā tātou katoa
Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa.  Warm greetings to you all.
Most of you are currently dealing with the consequences of the spread of Covid-19 among students in your schools and their families.  You may have staff who are currently at home in isolation or even be at home in isolation yourself.  Finding cover for staff who are absent is a real challenge at this time and many of you will be reorganising your staff and school to cover students and staff who are away.
A parent who I spoke with this morning said these are crazy days and a staff member said the exact same thing.  They are indeed crazy times. Today in my school, included in more than two hundred that are in isolation, we have a whole class of 24 students away.   As we had been unable to find a reliever for that class this morning, having the whole class away was itself a relief.  Of course, we do not always have such serendipity and each morning can be stressful for school leaders as we make the staffing decisions required.  Please take care of yourselves at this challenging time.
This Wednesday on the 9th of March at 10 am we have our WPA Annual General Meeting which is being held via Zoom.  Sandra, our administrator, has sent out the Zoom link to you all today.  We hope that you are able to join us.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the current members of the WPA Executive on their appointment to the Executive team.  The number of valid nominations received was the same as the number of vacancies, so an election did not need to take place.   Thank you to the past members of the Executive team that chose to stand again.  We would like to thank Linda McCabe who has decided to stand down from her role on the Executive this year for her tireless work for the WPA, in particular for her organisation each year of our Connection Days.  We have appreciated your valuable input, Linda.  The Executive team welcomes Chris May from Tauhei Combined School and we look forward to working with you Chris as the year progresses.
Kia haumaru te noho.
Stay safe everyone.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Lesley Lomas
