Principals supporting Principals… Principals supporting Principles!
Kia Ora
Please find this week’s Monday Mailing below.
With both the major political parties giving us an idea of what education might look like in the future you can see that it is still a political football.
Hopefully see you at the End of year Dinner on Friday.
Have a great week.
Kind regards
Tony Mangan

National Education and Learning Priorities session
Subject: National Education and Learning Priorities session
Kia ora koutou
We have managed to secure a second session to unpack the draft National Education and Learning Priorities (NELP). These are a set of priorities for practice in places of learning, from early childhood through to tertiary education and training. The NELP is a statutory document enabled by the Education Act 1989, and expresses the Government’s expectations of places of learning to improve wellbeing, equity and inclusion in education. As such, those in governance positions in the early learning and compulsory education sector must have regard to the NELP priorities. Can I ask you to promote this to your respective members?
This session is open to all i.e. teachers, principals, Board members and any members of the public who are interested.
Date: 21 November
Venue: Ministry of Education, 19 Home Straight,
Hamilton
Time: 5.30-8.00 pm

White Ribbon Campaign
This year as part of our White Ribbon Campaign we are wanting to encourage people to be kind to each other! White Ribbon is a movement started by men and boys to pledge their support to stop violence against women. It has been taken up around the world as an international event, acknowledged on 25th November annually. We believe that awareness campaigns like this would not be required if we all knew how and practised being kind to each other. We believe this starts by being great role models and teaching our tamariki and rangatahi how to be kind to each other!
So we would like to encourage you to make November a month of kindness and we are providing you with two easy, great ways to do this:
- Kindness Jars – Here’s the video by Naomi Holdt showing you just how
to do it!
An alternative to kindness jars is a kindness poster with pockets for the acts of kindness to go in.
Please note if this link does not work please visit our fb page here for the link. - Go to violence free waipa fb page to take part in the 30 days of Kindness Challenge – we will be posting an act of kindness for you to do each day
You could also share the Kindness Campaign to your school fb page to help get it started
- Here’s a sample:
Please spread the word and get this out to your teachers and students. It would be much appreciated if you can take a couple of minutes to let me know if your school gets at least a couple of classes on board with this. If you get any photos that you post on your fb pages please tag us in as we would love to see what “acts of kindness” come out of this. #violencefreewaipa #thirtydaysofkindness #KindnessCan #BeKindCambridge or #BeKindTeAwamutu
