You have three seminars to choose from, Taumarunui on October 22nd, Thames on October 23rd and Hamilton on October 24th.

Critical Considerations for our Schooling Futures: Stronger Together
While racism has begun to be talked about more openly since March 15th, our students have been having this conversation for some time. They know about racism because many are routinely affected by it. It is my belief that whatever their ethnicity, learners must be able to receive education without having to compromise who they are. This means that bias, prejudice, assimilation and racism must be up for discussion and the implications clearly understood, for ourselves, for our learners, for schooling and for wider society.
Through the use of cultural relationships, and critical contexts for learning, we will consider why this is important and how this conversation can begin to play out in ways that are respectful and responsive to the cultures of the communities with whom we work. Through such relationships, mana ōrite can be achieved and learning can begin to be accelerated for many more diverse groups of learners.
