Good afternoon Principals,
I’m writing to ask for your support and solidarity with other NZEI Te Riu Roa members who are Learning Support specialists employed directly by the Ministry of Education. These workers are the psychologists, speech language therapists, early intervention teachers, advisers of the deaf, kaitakawaenga, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, special education advisors and other professionals who provide specialist, itinerant support to the increasing number of children with the highest learning needs in schools and ECE centres.
Earlier this week, MOE Learning Support Specialists voted to strike for a day on Tuesday 21 August. We are hoping that a few of you might be able to drive past the Ministry Office (opposite Bunnings) on Tuesday between 7.30am and 9am to show your support for these great people. The simple act of driving by, sharing a few words of support would make a world of difference to them.
