Help!!! - Phone Apps In Schools

I am keen to find out what phone apps schools are using. Please let me know:

• The name of the app your school is using
• How effective schools and parents have found them.
• Any specific functions that you like about your preferred app, e.g. paying accounts, getting parent permission for school events, linked to student assessments, etc

Rant – Education Act

Have you read the Ministry’s information sheet on ‘seclusion and restraint’? You can have a look by clicking here.

So… it seems you can put a child in a room for calm down time… but they can leave whenever they want. Great!!!

A scenario: a child is in a rage; he has threatened a staff member with a pair of scissors. Appropriate restraint has been used to get him to a room to calm down. Staff place him in the room, but must ensure he knows he can leave anytime!!!

Jeez. This addition to the Education Act is a knee-jerk reaction from a populist Government, resulting of one or two schools using inappropriate practices. Again.

You can find the Ministry’s fact sheets in relation to the Education Act here. Boy oh boy. This Government is intent on excessive control – some quite draconian stuff.
