Willie Rosendaal
It is with a deep sadness that the WPA acknowledges the passing of Willie Rosendaal, Principal of Waerenga School since 1995. On behalf of the WPA, I extend our profound sympathy to Willie’s wife Gina and their children Skip, Ben, and Georgie.
Willie trained at Palmerston North teachers college. He taught at a number of schools before taking up his first principalship at Tokirima School (where he met his wife-to-be-be Gina). In 1995 he moved to Waerenga School.
Willie’s funeral was attended by a huge number of people, reflecting the mana he had as a teacher, Principal, and community member. His love of music, his love of fun, and his love of his family was very evident.
Our thoughts are with Willie’s family and the team at Waerenga School.

Schools Challenge – Trots Night
A great time was had by all!!! A big thanks to John Coulam and his team for all your hard work.
Congratulations to Te Kowhai School, winners of the Furnware classroom package. Thank to to Furnware for your continued generous support of the Trots Nights. This is a top prize!!
The lucky winners of the InfraComfort under-desk Personal Infrared Heaters were:
Vaughan Franklin – Te Rapa School
Hamish Fenemor – Cambridge East School
Sincere thanks to InfraComfort or providing these sport prizes!
These unobtrusive heaters use 1/16th the power of a fan heater that many of our staff bring from home that suck our schools’ energy bills. You can see they fit on the modesty panel under the desk, out of harm’s way. We look forward to a report back from Hamish and Vaughan after a few winter’s days. Meanwhile take a look at infracomfort NZ web site – they’re heating numerous teaching and learning spaces around the country with great success.

Rant – Special Needs
This is election year. Talk to your MP about the farce that is funding and support for children with special needs… or any other issues that you deem to be unjust or inequitable for your children, for your school.
Do not be passive!
