MOE – Principals Wanted for PLD Panel
As you know, the allocation of centrally funded PLD has changed. A key change is the mechanism for allocating centrally-funded PLD. PLD Allocation Panels comprising sector and community representatives meet each term to review PLD proposals from kura, schools and Communities of Learning I Kāhui Ako against national criteria, and make recommendations about the allocation of centrally funded PLD.
The Ministry is seeking panel members with relevant experience, knowledge and understanding from the Early Learning, English and Māori medium sectors, and Kāhui Ako as well as the wider community. Release time is provided for meetings but not the review of proposals.
If you would like to be considered for this role or would like more information, please contact your education advisor or email PLD.Waikato@education.govt.nz

Rant – Fire Service
In Hamilton, the NZ Fire Service allows schools two ‘free’ false alarms. After that, they charge the school $1,000 for each call out.
I consider this an outrage!! It implies that schools are not maintaining their fire systems; and that the false alarms are within our control.
The policy of charging schools has the potential to cause harm to children.
I strongly urge schools to take this matter up with the Fire Service if you get an invoice.
Chat to your MP about it too… it is election year!
