Help!! Mathletics
What free alternatives are there to Mathletics?
Mathletics is great; used properly, it can be an effective component of a mathematics programme. But it is expensive.
Do you know of a free web-based alternative? Or an app for iPads?
Responses to principal@deanwell.school.nz .
Thank you.

Research Project Focusing On Middle-Level Instructional Leadership
Tēnā tatou katoa, Talofa, Malo e lelei, Bula vinaka, Kia orana, Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou
In Term 1, 2017 we are undertaking a research project focusing on middle-level instructional leadership. We would appreciate your participation in this important study. The purpose of the study is to investigate the expectations held of middle-level leaders as direct instructional leaders who carry out tasks involving day-to-day interactions with colleagues. We also want to find out about how confident you feel about performing the range of tasks.
Currently, there is very little information available about this topic in a New Zealand context. If you are able to please share this with your middle leaders, their participation will provide valuable new knowledge which could strengthen practice.
Please click the button below to register your name and email contact. Alternatively, copy and paste the URL link into your internet browser: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MILrecruit

Also, please forward this email or link to every middle leader that you may know!
Tēnā rawa atu koe! Thank you

Jargon Buster – “Main Streaming”
“Main Streaming” is a very clever practice where children with special needs are placed in a main-stream classroom with little or no support from the Government. This saves a lot of money.
Unfortunately, it can be disadvantageous for the child and places huge pressure on the teacher.
Furnware – New Soft Furnishings
Here at Furnware we are constantly working with our customers to come up with fun and exciting new furniture solutions for their learning spaces.
One of which is the new Hide'n'Seat. This piece of furniture is perfect for libraries, shared spaces and any other environment where you might want to create a quiet area or partition off a certain area within your environments. It is available in a wide range of colour options as well as fabric and vinyl combinations.
Another new edition is the Empire Ottoman. This ottoman is much larger than the standard round ottomans and is perfect for relaxing on while reading a book, using a device or just hanging out. We see these being used in all types of environments and are also popular in staffroom's as well.
Just a quick reminder as well that we are fast approaching our end of January delivery cut off date. So if you are looking at purchasing any furniture for next year please let me know and I can come and see you.
Thank you.
