Help! Court Cover
Court cover
Our school is looking to cover our outside courts to protect against sun and rain, to make it an all weather facility. Has anyone got any tips or tricks that might help? Please contact brians@tetotara.school.nz or Ph 07 853 0039

Rant – Funding
All schools that have Māori students have high achieving Māori students. Why then does the Government insist on focusing on Māori underachievement?
I hear worrying things about the shallow focus the Education Review Office has during school evaluations, requiring schools to show acceleration for Māori students – but not other ethnic groups. Is this true?
The focus on Māori underachievement is both insulting and denigrating to Māori.
The Government needs to focus on underachievement of children living in poverty. That is the issue.
Health And Safety Policy and Procedures
Whatawhata School has just completed a complete review and rewrite of our H&S stuff using the HSWA 2015 guide to do so... Monster job...
I also attach our pre-populated risk register if it helps others too...

NZEI Principal Matters
Identified through feedback during bargaining process as well as through NZPF survey results of the sector. "Principal Hoauora" or workplace wellbeing is becoming an ever increasingly important issue to be aware of due to ever increasing workloads, impossible time frames and stress.
The NZEI and Waikato Principals’ Association are sponsoring a day for Principals and Senior School Leaders. Facilitated by Dr Giles Burch & Emma Lonsdale, Clinical Psychologists titled.
“Managing Workplace Psychological Wellbeing”
Emma Lonsdale and Giles Burch will provide you with a day dedicated to helping you manage your emotional well-being as valued Principals and School Leaders. They will provide an overview of the scientific evidence behind approaches to psychological wellbeing. In addition, they will use a combination of practical and experiential exercises designed to help you identify workplace stress, ‘manage yourself’, whilst developing resilience.
Please see the attached flyer for more information and how to register,

MY HOUSEWORK PHILOSOPHY
I don't do windows because I love birds and don't want one to run into a clean window and get hurt.
I don't wax floors because I am terrified a guest will slip, hurt themselves, I'll feel terrible, and they may sue me.
I don't mind the dust bunnies because they are very good company. I have named most of them, and they agree with everything I say.
I don't disturb cobwebs because I want every creature to have a home of their own.
I don't spring clean because I love all the seasons and don't want the others to get jealous.
I don't pull weeds in the garden because I don't want to get rid of the only green I've got.
I don't put things away because my husband will never be able to find them again.
I don't do gourmet meals when I entertain because I don't want my guests to stress out over what to make when they invite me over for dinner.
I don't iron because I choose to believe them when they say "Permanent Press."
I don't stress much on anything because "A Type" personalities die young and I want to stick around and become a wrinkled up crusty ol' person!
