Help! Health & Safety, Child Protection Policies

Our BoT met last night and further discussed Health & Safety and Child Protection.

We would be most grateful if any schools who have recently updated their Health & Safety and Child Protection policies would be willing to share them with us so that we can see if we are on the right track.

Responses to principal@deanwell.school.nz and I will forward them on.

Thank you.

Help! Polices & Procedures –

  1. Fundraising / PTA
  2. Sports Teams

Wondering if you could support me with policies or procedures for fundraising/PTA and secondly sports teams. I have a few things simmering and the BOT would like to have formal documentation in place as our line in the sand.

Responses to principal@deanwell.school.nz and I will forward them on.

Thank you.

CORE Breakfast

The next CORE Breakfast is on 23 June with Alex Hotere-Barners presenting a seminar and workshop session on Non-Māori Roles in supporting Māori Educational Success.

In Aotearoa New Zealand there continues to be enduring questions about why and how non-Māori can play active roles in supporting Māori educational success. Based on the latest research evidence, the seminar and workshop sessions will explore how non-Māori educationalists can advance sustainable and positive Māori educational outcomes.

NZEI Principal Matters

Identified through feedback during bargaining process as well as through NZPF survey results of the sector, "Principal Hauora" or workplace wellbeing is becoming an ever increasingly important issue to be aware of due to ever increasing workloads, impossible time frames and stress.

The NZEI and Waikato Principals’ Association are sponsoring a day for Principals and Senior School Leaders, facilitated by Dr Giles Burch & Emma Lonsdale, Clinical Psychologists titled.

“Managing Workplace Psychological Wellbeing” August 4 2016 9:30 to 4:00

Emma Lonsdale and Giles Burch will provide you with a day dedicated to helping you manage your emotional well-being as valued Principals and School Leaders. They will provide an overview of the scientific evidence behind approaches to psychological wellbeing. In addition, they will use a combination of practical and experiential exercises designed to help you identify workplace stress, ‘manage yourself’, whilst developing resilience.

Please see the attached flyer for more information and how to register

Beginning Teacher Charter

The BT Charter for your school is with me waiting to be signed.

The concept of the charter was a response from members.

It is designed to support the employment and induction of teachers into the workforce. We know that approximately 15% of BT's who get a job are employed into permanent positions.

By signing the charter the school is supporting employing teachers into legitimate fixed term positions and making a commitment to robust induction and mentoring programmes.

The majority of schools are doing just that right now.

Please email me if you are happy to sign the charter and I will deliver it to you.

What happens to a frog's car when it breaks down?
It gets toad away.

Q: What did the duck say when he bought lipstick?
A: "Put it on my bill."

A woman has twins, and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named 'Amal.' The other goes to a family in Spain, they name him Juan'. Years later; Juan sends a picture of himself to his mum. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wished she also had a picture of Amal. Her husband responds, ''But they are twins. If you've seen Juan, you've seen Amal.''

I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.
