Working Memory - Workshop
Kia ora
We are well underway now at our new specialist education centre in Te Awamutu. We have 5 educators who are trained in a teaching approach (not a programme) to specifically help dyslexic learners and we have over 80 students enrolled for support. These children come for sessions during or after school mostly once per week and we also have 10 students who come for a one day programme on a Friday where they have two specialist teachers for the day.
It is a real privilege to be working with such a dedicated team, who are collaborating to develop a way forward for these learners, and to also be focussing on a very specific area as opposed to the raft of things we focus on as a Principal.
We are hosting our first workshop in the school holidays in Te Awamutu.
Kind regards

Chiefs Rugby Opportunity
We are running a joint competition with the Chiefs Rugby Club and sponsoring a Chiefs rugby training/coaching session for one lucky Waikato Primary School.
It’s a great way to get the players into the local schools and a nice and fun way for us to give back to the community.
We ran this last year and the winning school had a great afternoon.
The link for the competition to include is here:

NZEI Principal Matters
Remember the rural and teaching principals conference is only 4 weeks away, register now. It's a great opportunity to network with colleges with similar needs and challenges in the rural sector. Those from larger school wishing to attend there will be a range of insightful speakers, school visits and workshops on topical information to principals currently such as health and safety, work place stress and others.

A kid gave his teacher a blank piece of
paper.
Teacher: "What is this?"
Kid: "It's a drawing of a cow eating grass."
"Where's the grass?"
"The cow ate all of it."
"Then, where's the cow?"
"It left because there was no more grass."
She claims we met at the vegetarian club, but I’d never seen herbivore.
A man rushed into a busy doctor's office and shouted, "Doctor! I think I'm shrinking!"
The doctor calmly responded, "Now, settle down. You'll just have to be a little patient."
