Help!! Exit Surveys
Request from a school: Do you use exit interviews with staff? It is something that has arisen from the NZSTA HR self-review that my BOT want me to investigate.
If you use exit interviews with staff, please email them to principal@deanwell.school.nz and I will pass them on.

Ontario Principals' Exchange 2016
The Institute of Professional Learning is offering an exchange programme with Ontario in 2016 as part of our partnership with the Ontario Principals' Council.
Already we have a number of people very interested simply through word of mouth but there may be others who would be interested.

Start of the Year – Ideas
Seven good ideas (eight if you count the Treaty of Waitangi one) for teachers to select from to start the year.

Have had great feedback about the ideas so have a look and share with teachers.

Rant!! Charter Schools
One down… the Government invested 4 million dollars in a Charter school in Northland – and it failed.
Imagine what we could do in our schools with that sort of money!!

There are still limited places available for in-depth, in-school facilitation for 2016.
- We can create packages to facilitate in-school PLD to assist lead teams and/or whole school implementation / review of big picture, team collaborative planning and successful classroom practice.
- If you would like to avail yourselves of these opportunities please contact us soon with your requests so that we can plan appropriately to meet your needs.
We believe that this mahi will help you to ensure a sustainable programme and consistent and progressive teaching and learning throughout your school for te Reo Maori me onā Tikanga.

A Thought – Action!
And a Laugh
A guy sends a text to his next-door neighbour:
"Bob, I'm sorry. I've been riddled with guilt and I have to confess: I have been helping myself to your wife when you're not around, probably more than you. I know it's no excuse but I don't get it at home. I can't live with the guilt any longer. I hope you'll accept my sincerest apology. It won't happen again."
Feeling outrage and betrayed, Bob grabs his gun, goes into the bedroom, and without a word, shoots his wife.
Moments later the guy gets a second text: "Really should use spell check! That should be 'wifi'."
A rancher was minding his own business when an FBI agent came up to him and said, "We got a tip that you may be growing illegal drugs on the premises. Do you mind if I take a look around?"
The old rancher replied, "That's fine, you shouldn't go over there though." As he pointed at one of his fields.
The FBI agent snapped at him, "I'm am a federal agent! I can go wherever I want!" With that he pulled out his badge and shoved it into the ranchers face.
The rancher shrugged this off and continued with his daily chores. About 15 minutes later he heard a loud scream from the field he had pointed out earlier. All of a sudden he could see the FBI agent sprinting towards him with a large bull on his heels.
The rancher rushed to the fence and yelled, "Your badge! Show your badge to the bull!"

A woman wrote to tech support, and their reply is a stroke of genius
This young woman is no different from the rest of us, both family happiness and heartbreak are familiar to her. She is simply looking for an answer to her questions. How do you maintain a relationship? How do you bring back the excitement of the first date?
She wrote a letter to the tech support to find her answers. She sent the letter as a joke and only remembered about it when she suddenly received an email notification with a response.
Dear Tech Support,
’Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slowdown in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.
In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as: Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as: NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1.
Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and House cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.
What can I do?
Signed,
Desperate
Dear Desperate,
"First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Please enter command: I thought you loved me.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.
However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.
Whatever you do, DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)
In addition, please, do not attempt to re-install the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend: Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.
Good Luck
